Are You Curious?

Have you ever wondered why you could still fit into a shirt you wore when you were 15 years old? Did you not grow as much as you'd like or was oversized shirts the trend back then? Consider this. The older you get, the smaller the shirts become. Well, I'm not talking about the body-hugging, fishing net-type shirts taken from a Right Said Fred video. I'm referring to shirts that are better fitted, bespoke even. Funny enough, I still have some shirts I wore when I was 14 or 15 years old that are 2 or 3 sizes bigger than the shirts I wear today. And I've asked myself on many occasions why I wore such oversized shirts? I've tried them on and really, I look like I was drowning in them. The excess material just weighed me down. I didn't even feel comfortable in it. But hey, I must have thought it was cool to do so. Why? Was there peer pressure and had I succumbed to it? Was it wrong to go against the fashion trend at that time? Would I have been an outcast if I had not conformed to society's norms? But I wouldn't know now because I was almost like everyone else back then. The so-called nerds and those who did not conform were not very "cool". So now with hindsight and an introspective eye, I reflect and quite frankly, I don't see anything wrong with nerds now. The ones I know now dress well, have cool gadgets and fancy cars. So were you one of those who wore oversized shirts? Think about it!

Obviously the above is just one of the many everyday examples that you could reflect upon with much curiosity. Why do some shop during a sale and would rather deal with throngs of people in packed shopping malls, limited parking space, bad traffic and the increased possibility of not getting the item that they want? Why do some pursue "popular" qualifications instead of pursuing their passion? Why do people rush to a gas station when a hike of 3 cents/litre is announced by the government? Why do people eat dog meat, horse meat or any other nonsensical meat disguised as a delicacy? Is Earth really a planet in a solar system? How do you actually know without taking a trip to outer-space? Everything we know about our planet and the cosmos have been fed to us by books and media. We don't know for sure what's out there.

Listen, I'm not here to promote any conspiracy theories. I simply want to know more, to discover and to me the best way is to reflect on our experiences. Having said all of the above, I'd like you to oblige me by doing this: agreeing to disagree. In fact, you should. These are just some of the matters I wonder about and by no means you should be agreeing to it. But again, do think about it. A simple googling or question may change your perception on many matters you once thought of as trivial.

In essence, this blog is my avenue to pen down all my thoughts, feelings and curiosity about my experiences, both the bizarre and the ordinary. It allows me to put more thought into simple matters I've failed to question and have brushed aside. I believe its never too late to become that 6 year old we all once were, the 6 year old who often asked, wondered and ultimately learned.
